2002 Augusta Southern Nationals

In 2002 I had the opportunity to go to Augusta for the Augusta Southern Nationals event. It was my first trip back east and my dad and I met up with good buddies Mark McLaughlin and Randy Krohn. The boat count was good. The weather was for the most part good except for a couple heavy duty down pours where some people, who shall remain nameless that braved the dock (island) across the river, got pounded with rain as they got stuck on the dock during one of the deluges.  Charlie Wilkie (see hydro crash pics below) was involved in a nasty spill where his Krtis hulled hydro got into some rollers and then came apart big time sending him flying the air out in front of the splintered machine. Charlie has since returned to the liquid quarter and last I saw campaigns a very good looking and running flatbottom. I have a bunch more pics to upload and will be doing so in the next couple of days.
