In its fourth year I finally decided I needed to check out the Parker
300 Enduro and I was glad I made the four hour trip out to Parker even
if I only went out for the day. There were 38 race teams on hand and
the pits were jammed with crew and spectators. Each of the teams were
placed in a Division depending on motor combination and weight of the
boat and then the slower divisions were first to get the flag start.
Being a fan of inboard machines, both v-drive and jet, I was very
pleased to see quite a few of these machines on the water. It wasn't
for that long however as many of the inboard racers were sidelined with
attrition while many of the outboard and I/O machines went the
distance. The overall winner, who went the 60 laps in 4 hours and 13
minutes (with 2 mandatory 10 minute on the trailer pit stops) was the
#48 team of John Roth and John Lane and they began their day within the
Division III class. Second overall was the #19 division IV race team of
Mark Durham and Greg Foster and in the third overall spot was the
division VI team of Chad Hill with Tony Scarlata also making some laps
in the machine. Nordic boats played a big roll in the race with
sponsorship and participation and hopefully future Enduro races will
include many more of the performance boating manuafacturers. The photo
below represents all of the 38 teams that took to the Colorado in the
hopes of taking home the win. The photo is available in either 18 by 12
or a poster 30 by 20. Congratulations to all that were involved in this
very cool race. Enjoy the pics.
