6-30-08 - Added Super Stock pics to the Superstock Racing Association website. I will be putting up the K pics tomorrow night and the rest of the Burley pics in the coming days. We shot over 3000 pics as well as HD video of every run on Saturday and Sunday. Way too much to work with!!!
6-27-08 - Added Burley Pics from todays testing, qualifying, and shootout races. The weather was bitchen today with highs in the high 80's with a breeze most of the afternoon. The Superstock class has the biggest class with possibly 15 entries and the Dave Rankin owned SS80 Wild Child team ran the table today. With Dave Bryant running the Unlimited Hydro in Evansville, In. it was Gordy Jennings Jr. and Dave Rankin trading seats for the Friday action. Gordy qualified in the number one spot during the one lap qualifying lap and then he went on to whip up on the competition in the Super Stock shootout. Tony Scarlata qualified in the number two spot and finished in second in the shootout. There are quite a few SS race teams from the Pacific Northwest and it should be a great weekend of racing in the SS class. Fred Hart was in the seat of the SS741 machine handling the driving for the Loveless family. There are 6-7 K Boats on the premises and Duff Daily is driving the K69 machine. Ty Newton is doing double duty in the PS70 Faulkner owned machine and the K66 machine. Neither the K's or the PS class participated in a shootout on Friday. In the abbreviated six boat crackerbox field Amy Ross and Missy Monroe put the P96 Arizona Girls entry in the top spot on the one lap qualifier and then Amy would drive by the P55 machine to take the shootout win. Jerry Ross would return to the Crackerbox class but had problems in the shootout. In the best race of the day it was a father and son duel in the 2.5 liter hydro class that saw the son take the checkered flag by less than a boat length. I will get driver info on these two tomorrow but the 2.5 litre hydro's have some very cool looking machines. In the Comp Jet class Mark Moyle qualified number and was leading in the shootout heat when Roger Finney spun out and was thrown from his CJ288 machine. Roger was brought to the launch ramp in the stretcher but would walk away from the incident. I will be updating the site tomorrow night with Saturday Burley info and pics. Enjoy!
6-25-08 - We will be heading to Burley Idaho this weekend to take in some circle boat racing on a big course. The Burley venue is one of the finest on the APBA circuit and its always a treat to get out of the concrete jungle (southern California) and visit the lush green shoreline of the Snake River in June. If all goes as planned we will be updating the site on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening with some updates and maybe some pics. Good luck to all of the competitors at Burley, Chowchilla, and San Angelo Texas.
6-25-08 - I will be adding some pics from last weekens NJBA race shortly.
6-25-08 - Added another Irvine Lake K Challenge video. Here is Scott Steele on his first lap.
6-18-08 -
Added two more videos from the first round of the Irvine Lake K Boat Challenge. Billy B in his K11 Krazy Kolors Express and Wayne Herbert in his K50 Coldfire machine. Both videos are over 3 megs in file size.
6-16-08 - Added video - Gordy Jennings Jr. in the K69 Freedom entry on his first run in the K-Boat Challenge. It looked like Gordy made a much wider turn than most of the others. I will be adding the other videos in the coming days. This video was shot on an AVCHD format Hi Def video camera and looks bitchen when play in 1080i on my PS3. This file is 2.9 megs and the video is around 52 seconds in length. Enjoy! 6-16-08 - This coming weekend is the third race on the NJBA schedule at Lake Ming in Bakersfield California. We hope to make it out on Saturday to get some good shots and video.
6-16-08 -
Added about 45+ more pics from the Sunday Irvine Lake V-Drive Regatta. I only put up a small sample of almost every boat I got a picture of and have quite a few more shots of the various boats if you might be interested in getting an enlargement or two. What a fricken cool event!
6-14-08 - Added 90+ pics from todays Irvine Lake V-Drive Regatta. The K-Boat Challenge looked like a big hit as Gordy Jennings Jr. took first place in his K69 Freedom machine. Tony Scarlata came in second and posted the quick lap of the day. It was really neat watching the different driving styles. Besides the K's there were crackers, super stockers, some nice cruisers, lots of clean flatties, and even a couple of good looking and running hyro machines. Along with the pics I shot some HD video of all of the K heats and a bunch of other clips of the misc runs. I will be going back out for a couple hours tomorrow to get some good lighting conditions and hopefully some more good pics and video.
6-12-08 - I will be heading out to this weekends V-Drive Regatta at Irvine Lake. I might make it out for a bit tomorrow night but for sure will be there on Saturday morning. Along with seeing some awesome looking boats on the water and on the trailers the 2008 Irvine Lake V-Drive Regatta is also going to feature a timed K-Boat match between about 10 different drivers. If you want to see some killer machines that are fast and see for yourself who will take home the K Challenge win be sure to come on out. And if you cant make it I will be posting a recap with photos on Saturday night. The weather is supposed to be awesome!!

5-10-08 - Added three videos from the Lakefest event. The finals in TFH, TAH, TAF. I am starting to get a handle on some basic video editting so many more to come!!
5-10-08 - Added the rest of the 2008 IHBA Lakefest pics. Over 200 pics from the opener. Enjoy!
5-8-08 - If you follow either dragracingonline.com or competitionplus.com you will see some news (rumors only?) about a possible nitro shortage and the only country where NITRO is manufactured is China. Who knew!
5-8-08 -
Added more pics to the 2008 IHBA Lakefest page. Also added a video of the brand new Problem Child (launch only). And it was a very nice launch but it looked like maybe Kevin got off the throttle for a split second? Eddie's new hull came from the Bullet Outrigger mold by Jim Dunn and was laid up by new sponsor Centurion Boats. Jim and his son Brian campaign this awesome looking and running Pro Mod on the division I circuit. It looks like the Milwaukee Bullet team made some changes as this year (at least at the season opener) the machine really gets freed up and airs out down track. Take a look at some of the pics and you will see what I am talking about. I wonder how this would play out at 230 + miles per hour? Definately a different attitude than the Hot Licks machine but it could be the difference between two props and a single prop set up.What the heck am I talking about I don't know ____ about these things!! Enjoy.
5-7-08 -
Added pics and commentary to the 2008 IHBA Lakefest page.

Also made some changes to the race schedule as the NJBA has changed the dates on the May race and the IHBA hopes to run at Chowchilla in June. I attended the Nostalgia Shootout event (Saturday only) at California Dragway in Fontana and if you want to see specific shots of any car in competition drop me an e-mail and I will send over proofs. While I was going through some old pics over the weekend I ran accross this one. It's not that often that you saw Ty Newton aired out in the SS70 machine.

Spect8foto.com is proud to announce that we will once again be showcasing some of our best photos. The site has been on the web since 1998 and was one of the first web sites that featured the exciting sport of drag boat racing.  We are currently reorganizing all of our photos and plan to do regular updates on the site with photos from the past. We have begun with all of the photos that were shot since we went digital in 2002 and will update the site with photos from the 2002 Nitro Nationals event in the coming days. Along with past photos we also plan on attending a number of race events on the west coast in 2008 and will be showing off our keeper shots.  Next weekend we plan on taking in some nitro action at the 2008 NHRA Winternationals event on Thurs. and Fri. and then possibly the LA Boat show on Saturday. Stay tuned.

2-5-08 Added more photos to the 2002 Nitro Nationals page. The most recent ones are at the bottom. It was an awesome event with excellent racer turnout and a huge crowd. On a side note while I was driving home from work today on the 57 freeway heading south I saw a couple NHRA rigs heading towards Pomona. One of the rigs housed the Mopar / Oakley FC of Gary Scelzi and I cannot wait until Thursday to get a taste of a new season of drag racing. As usual I will be hanging out at the top of the grandstand on Thurs at about 900 ft and if you are in the vicinity stop by and say hello.  On Friday I hope to be on the west side grandstands at the far end.

2-11-08 Finished adding pictures to the 2002 Nitro Nationals page. There are 47 photos currently up and I have a bunch more if you are looking for something specific. The next 2002 event that I will begin putting up is the June 2002 NJBA event. I will also be adding pics from this past weekends 2008 NHRA Winternationals event.

2-11-08  Added info to our Blog page. We will be updating this page every time we pick up the camera and shoot pics through out the year. This includes not only racing pics but also wildlife and childrens sports. See link at bottom of page. We will also be working on the rest of the links at the bottom of the page in the coming days. We are going to be spending lots of time with updates to bring the site back to where it once was. Thanks for visiting!

2-15-08 Added Thursday Pics from the 2008 NHRA Winternationals. I will be putting the rest of the Winternationals (Friday) pics up on 2-16-08. I will then update the site next week with some 2002 NJBA pics. I also hope to head out to Soboba Casino on Sunday to take in some NSDA Sand Drag action. If you have not heard of the NSDA or been to one of their races you are missing out. The NSDA has done an excellent job and the races well attended and well run. They are paying $8000 to win in TF and I would imagine they are going to get an awesome turnout of race teams. You can get daily results at NationalSandDragNews.com or check out Sand-Drags.com to get info direct from the NSDA.

2-16-08 Finished adding pictures to our NHRA 2008 Winternationals Page. We have about 100 of our best pics of the event uploaded. We are planning on heading out to check out some sand drag action tomorrow and will update the blog if we do.
